Eating colors during the white theme season!

Everyone knows that December is the month when everyone prepares for Christmas and  New Year. It is that time of the year which offers us a variety of things to enjoy.

Some of the things are: Clementine, Oranges, Lemons, Apples,Chestnut, Cranberry,Patatoes, Broccoly, Mushrooms,Sweet Patatoes.

To begin with Clementine, full of vitamin B and vitamin C, with a beautiful color,sweet taste and they tend to be easy to peel. You can eat them as they are or you can make juice from them, adding sugar or mixing it with orange giving a nice, fresh and delicious taste.


Oranges are very similar to Clementine, but they are bigger and sometimes they can be bitter. This one you can use it on you meals like, while preparing a cake the orange rind you can add a bit on your cake dough which will give a nice taste that you will love it. You can drink it in the morning with your breakfast or you can eat it just like the nature offers.


Lemons are full of vitamin C. It can be used as a medicine,if you have a throat ache the natural vitamin will help you heal it. It is one quote that I love about lemons: ‘If life gives you lemons, make lemonade’ , indeed squeezing them and mixing with water and sugar it will give you a lovely lemonade. While you drink tea you can also add some lemon juice in.  Just like with oranges, we can add lemon zest in our cake, just for some nice flavor. When we make fried or baked meat, on a soup and on a green salad, adding lemon is always a good idea.


Apples, we can find them yellow,green and red. I personally like to make apple pie using some cinnamon to add some flavor. Also I like to drink home made apple juice, it is so tasty.

Cranberry, which is considered the world’s healthiest food. I prefer the Classic Cranberry Sauce, and I would like to give you a recepie that I tried from foodnetwork: 4 cups cranberries,1 ½ cups each sugar and water, 4 wide strips lemon zest and ¼ cuo lemon juice over medium heat until the berries pop and the sauce thickens,and let 20 minutes cool. I can say that you will not be disappointed.


P.S  “I love to make some fruit salad and add a bit of honey and cinnamon. Try it  and you will love it for sure.”

Chestnut,  sweet, rich in flavor, low in calories, carry less fat, but are rich sources of minerals, vitamins and phyto-nutrients that immensely benefit health. If you bake them you will love the taste and the flavor that chestnuts spread in the air.

Patatos, we all love this vegetable. We can cook them mashed, baked, boiled and fried.


Broccoly  is an edible green plant in the cabbage family whose large flowering head is eaten as a vegetable. I love to boil them and make a delicious salad including boiled carrots,olive oil or melted butter, salt& pepper. Also it is a great combination with chicken breast (baked, fried or boiled is up to you).

Mushrooms (fried) are lovely combined with butter, lemon, salt&pepper. Also using them on pasta with cream and spinach, a healthy recipe.


Sweet Patato, is very similar with normal patao. You can fry, boil and bake them. I usually like to bake them with olive oil, salt & pepper and sometimes adding Italian herbes. Combining them with rice, chicken or meat.
