Crush of the week – Kristian Troci

Yay, it’s Sunday again! Did you enjoy last week’s crush? Today I’m presenting a new one, different from the others before. As it is a tradition for us, every week we make an article about someone that inspires us, gives us that electric feeling of being special, that piece of magic and that high vibration.

Kristian Troci is the character we chose as ‘Crew’s Crush Of The Week’. I learned about him from a friend of mine who enabled me the meeting with him, and all this occurred shortly after he was launched for “MONIN World Cup” in Paris.

The MONIN Cup is a #cocktail competition organized first at a local scale (national) then globally. Young bartenders (below 27 years old) compete with a cocktail of their own which has at least one #MONIN product. Winners are selected by a panel of judges based on the quality of their drink and the quality of their work.
Interesting huh? Yes Kristian participated and took the ninth place in the world.

But how did this love for drinks started and developed?
“My beginnings as a local bartender were in some modest clubs in Greece. It was the time when I was discovering new things  by watching and experimenting. The next step I took were the several workshops and training in different places of the world with famous names in this field. I worked abroad ,until six months ago I decided to come back in my motherland, Albania.”

“To be honest I missed Albania, even though I can clearly see that when it comes to cocktails we have remained behind. But I’m glad that I’ve earned people’s trust  and they want to experience new drinks made by me.”

Kristian’s favorite drink? Negroni absolutely!
The Negroni cocktail is made of one part gin, one part Vermouth Rosso, and one part Campari, garnished with orange peel. It is considered as an Aperitif.

“I like other drinks too – he says – because all of these stuff are like pieces of me. I like to create all the time and try not to be ordinary, but of course I can’t taste all of my cocktails. Being a bartender is an art guys, you must read the eyes of the person in front of you to understand its taste and in the end all you have to do is create a cocktail with love.

Kristian currently works in one of the premises of the capital, “Novelle Vague“. He wants to specify that for now, Nouvelle is the place that cocktails are in another level (global) compared to the other bars in Tirana.

“When I first came here, I didn’t expect to become so familiar, not only with the staff here but even with the place, the colors around me, the details, the lighting and all the other parts that surrounded me. I’m happy to work everyday here and I’m waiting for everyone to come and visit us.”

The cocktail in the video below that Kristian created for me that day was made with Popcorn syrup. It was delicious ! Believe me, one of the best things you can drink in these cold winter days!
